Recent news reports have shown a rash of potential Bigfoot sightings in Northeast Ohio. Dr. Mireya Mayor invites Scott Tompkins, the creator of our live Bigfoot Map, to discuss these sightings and look at data within the map.
Bigfoot sightings skyrocket in Northeast Ohio
New reports are now claiming that there have been eight or more Bigfoot sightings in Northeast Ohio during the first few weeks in March. Witnesses, several whom claim experience in the woods and seeing wildlife, report creatures that stand 8-10 feet tall, are hairy and seem to be bipedal. Most of these recent sightings have occurred in Portage and Trumbull counties.
All of these sightings occurred between March 6th through the 11th, making them very concentrated.
Footprint Evidence.
Witnesses who are familiar with the outdoors reported seeing a large figure walking upright—something bears can do briefly, but not consistently. Dr. Mayor says that makes the sightings notable and unusual.
Scott Tomkins introduces a key piece of evidence of footprint images obtained directly from a witness. These images have not been publicly released before, making this an exclusive scoop for the Explorer Society! While one image is unclear, another is considered more compelling.

Scott also explains a prediction he makes about the movement of the creature(s), suggesting they would head south. This hypothesis was based on environmental factors—such as avoiding populated areas, highways, and large obstacles—and instead following more remote habitat corridors. The apparent alignment of sightings with this prediction in the map data is seen as supporting that theory.
Overall, the eyewitness testimony, physical evidence (footprints), and logical reason fed by the map data about movement patterns lend credibility to the reported phenomenon.
