Dr. Mireya Mayor unveils an all-new adventure for Explorer Society members—Bigfoot Expeditions. She is joined by renowned investigator Russ Acord and Scott & Sheila Granger of Squatch-Fishing Outfitters to share what’s ahead, why this region matters, and how members can be part of the experience. Expect insider details, behind-the-scenes stories, and a first look at what could be our most immersive field investigation yet.
Dr. Mayor is genuinely excited about launching the inaugural expedition. On this livestream, you’ll meet Scott and Sheila Granger, the hosts for this special event, along with Russ Acord and Dr. Mireya Mayor—familiar faces to fans of Expedition Bigfoot. The friendly banter between Russ and Mireya will give everyone a taste of the dynamic they can expect on the expedition itself.

What to expect on the expedition
Scott and Sheila emphasized two promises: everyone will have a great time, and there will be great food—something that guarantees Russ’s attendance. The humor and camaraderie highlighted the relaxed, fun atmosphere participants can look forward to.
What equipment and skill-level do I need?
The expedition’s base camp is very close to your vehicle, so getting to the base camp is very easy. Hiking up to the target areas is not difficult, however Scott and Sheila report that people that remain in base camp experience as much as those who hike!
The team will be compiling a recommended packing and preparation list and suggestions to help attendees get ready.
Sheila’s personal encounter
Sheila and Scott Granger have deep experience in the GA mountains and Sheila goes into depth about one of the close encounters with Bigfoot which occurred on one of their expeditions.
Mireya was excited to hear Sheila’s personal encounter story and shared hopes for what the group might experience—everything from orbs and howls to rock activity and footprints. While no guarantees were made about paranormal encounters, one certainty stood out: participants will gain knowledge, enjoy hands-on learning, and have a lot of fun.
This expedition is sold out, but we have a wait list started in case anyone drops out. We are also looking to repeat this expedition in the fall of 2026, so stay tuned!
